Top beauty tips for the Christian Woman ( Lock down edition)

Hello Fam. I hope we are fine and staying safe. Due to the pandemic we are required to “stay at home and stay safe” but this shouldn’t be an avenue for laying all day in your pj’s and doing nothing. Rather it should be a time to build ourselves spiritually as daughters of Zion, and along put an effort in daily self care and that brings me to today’s blog post. In this lockdown edition I’ll be sharing with you top 8 beauty tips for the Christian woman

  1. Sleep : this might look like the perfect time to catch up on your favorite things ranging from books to talks and also movies but it is important for you to get the required sleep needed by your body and also be able to do day to day activities including bible study and praying.
  2. Exercise : Staying in one place all day is bad for our body, dear sister its more than staying in shape it entails moving our joints and bones to make it stronger.
  3. Stay hydrated: Water is life as the population saying goes, knowing fully well that we need to drink from the river of life to quench our Spiritual thirst, how much more our physical bodies?. Water not only helps in keeping us hydrated it also helps in giving our skin a healthy glow.
  4. Eat healthy : Take foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals like iron and zinc, don’t feed on junk foods.
  5. Bath: As simple as it sounds, most sisters find themselves lazing around and end up just bathing once a day. Sis its time to take care of your body which is also the temple of the Lord so pamper yourself, bath as much as you want.
  6. Exfoliate :From time to time we find dead skin/cells on our body so its best to exfoliate and get rid of them. One major method is the use of the popular exfoliating stone asides Scrubs and brushes so relax you don’t need to order for scrubs here and there. You can also use this time learn home made scrubs(they are all over the internet)
  7. Moisturize: I guess after exfoliating the next thing is to moisture that skin, don’t give the excuse of not going anywhere. Use those toners, eye cream and oils you have. This also speaks to naturalists reading this, it may look like little but that coconut oil or Shea butter will go a long way on your skin this period.
  8. Take care of your hair: The salon may be closed but your hands aren’t, take your time to learn new protective styles, hair do and routines especially to our natural hair community you can avoid a lot of breakages and knots in your hair with that knowledge .

Taking out time to care for ourselves boosts confidence in young Christian Women so don’t just stay home, stay healthy stay beautiful and stay confidence.

Birthday blog post: The journey through a new age

Hello Fam, I hope we are fine and staying safe. My birthday was two days ago (18-04)and although it wasn’t how I imagined it to be (I didn’t expect to celebrate it in a lockdown) it’s was worth being thankful for, I really want to appreciate God firstly for the gift of life and increase to my years honestly this journey is all because of Him. Next I would like to appreciate my family and loved ones that sent their prayers, love and gifts, you all made my day 😘. Thank you

Story time

I started my birthday with a book in my hands (soft copy tho) titled LOVE ME by AISHAT YAKUBU followed by a sound sleep. Lol i finished the book around two in the morning so I had to sleep, by the time I woke up I had received so many messages and calls , it was really a lovely day. It was rounded up by a meal 🍽 deliciously prepared by my momπŸ˜‹.

The journey through a new age

It is often believed that “the older you grow the wiser you become”, although this may not apply in all cases i’ve come to realize that I’m wiser and bolder than I used to be so as I journey in this new age here are five things I would like to achieve

  1. Spiritual Growth: Even as i’ve added a year to my physical age i also wish to grow in my spiritual life. ” But in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” 2 Peter 3:18(RSV)
  2. To fulfill purpose and establish myself for His Glorification. ” But you are a chosen race a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people that you may declare the wonderful deeds of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” 1 Peter 2:9( RSV)
  3. Becoming a virtuous woman means dedication to both spiritual and physical areas of my life, in the spiritual aspect, building of character is key. Proverbs 31:10-31(RSV) while in the physical aspect self care and my natural hair are goals. “But if a woman has long hair, it is her pride. For her hair is given to her for a covering” 1 Corinthians 11:15
  4. Increased traffic in my blog. ” Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established ” Proverbs 16:3( RSV)
  5. Grace to be productive as an entrepreneur. “You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth ;that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers as at this day” Deuteronomy 8:18(RSV)

Slaying as a believer

In this contemporary world, believer or not, we all want to dress and look nice, but the question is What do we dress good and still portray Christ?. I mean we all want to dress modestly and not end up looking “old or shaggy”. So without beating round the bush I’ll get right into this post.

First of all let’s understand what modesty is before dressing it. Modesty is the action of behaving or dressing so you show your body, attract sexual attention or the fact of not talking much about your abilities or possession(advanced English dictionary) so this means that modesty is not just a dress code its also a virtue, it is beyond clothing its also a mindset. Now that we know the definition of Modesty, how do we dress modestly?

1. We can’t blame the cloth for being immodest : Two people may wear the same T-shirt and look differently in it, one may look loser and the other look tight, in this context do we blame the cloth? Yes I know we have crazy clothing but should you wear those?, ask yourself would Jesus wear this?, would I be able to witness and would people accept my faith while seeing me in the clothing?. If we constantly ask ourselves these questions there would be less naked people and more sons and daughters of Zion in the world. Permit me to give you a story, in a rush to accompany my sister to the motor park I threw on a short dress and left the house, it was until we got to the public that I realized I was very uncomfortable, I think that day was one of worst days of my life, silently praying that none of my church members would see me that day I dragged the gown down to its elastic limit almost becoming plastic I would say, lol πŸ˜‚ but that was how bad it was. While fidgeting with my gown a question dropped in my mind ” Pekeno this is a good time to share the good news, would you be able to witness like this?, how many people would listen to you? ” I felt bad that day and made a promise not to wear the dress again. The point here is whatever clothing you wear(not crazy ones) wear it with the mindset of Christ’s witness.

2. Note that drawing attention and judging people is not modesty : God is a king so as His children we princes and princesses and so we must dress like that bearing in mind that we mustn’t be extravagant let’s take a look at the British royal family, Katherine duchess of Cambridge and Meghan duchess of Sussex are royalty, dress like royalty yet don’t look extravagant. While on earth Jesus was as humble as a lamb although He was a lion. Don’t judge people because of what they wear if Jesus had judged the world we probably wouldn’t have be saved today so don’t always carry in your mind that people I dress wrong I’m a bad person I too have been guilty of this but anytime I remember my experience at the motor park I then realize that probably others that saw me that day would have judged me as one of the worst sinners ever.

Slaying as believer

1 Tim 2: 9-10, Isa 3:16-25.

This section of the post I’m going to be talking to two believers about slaying while portraying Christ.

  • Good morning ma
  • Good morning
  • Please tell us about your name and a little about yourself
  • I’m Jennifer, I’m a Christian
  • So what do you understand by slaying in this contemporary world?
  • Hmmn, slaying to an average Nigerian regardless of religion means dressing elegant and what is in vogue
  • So would you say slaying is also for christian girls?
  • Hmmn after the definition of slaying what I would say is that christian girls should dress modestly, christian girls should always dress classy and elegant but bearing Christ in mind which allows decency to play.
  • Hmmn I really like the way you put 😊so what is decency/modesty according to you?
  • Modesty is dressing not to create attention
  • So how do we balance dressing modest while looking good
  • What matters is covering your body, don’t look naked while dressed
  • Thank you so much ma it was lovely talking to you but before you go any additional words for our readers?
  • Hmmn, don’t expose sensitive parts of your body. It shouldn’t just be fashion sense but it should be fashion with sense.
  • Good evening ma
  • Good evening dear
  • Please can you tell us your name and a little about yourself?
  • I’m Precious from kogi state, i’m a believer and I believe the manual for every believer is the Bible. I try my best to be what the Bible says I should
  • So what do you understand by the term ‘slaying ‘
  • Slaying means to kill, hit the nail on the head in dressing
  • Lol πŸ˜‚ what a lovely definition, so if that’s your definition would you say slaying is for Christians?
  • Your motive to slay is what matters, if its just to look then yes if not then no
  • How do we balance slaying with portraying Christ?
  • Be decent and smart, no one likes unkept and indecent people. I think it was Rev Funke Adejumo that asked “between a painted building and an unpainted one which would you choose? ” of course the congregation responded with the painted building and so she concluded with that’s how a girl with makeup and a girl without makeup is. Makeup is good but it shouldn’t be our priority, let God be more than it.
  • Wow ma you have indeed spoken well, it was lovely talking with you any word of encouragement for our readers?
    • In whatever you’re doing for Christ, do not be shy because you are going to stand on that judgment day so do what you’ll be accountable for. Thank you.

So my conclusion is in all your dressing and slaying let’s have the mind of Christ, not being extravagant and still looking good. Just like the Bible passage up thereπŸ‘†(in case you didn’t read it, go and read itπŸ˜‘πŸ˜š) we should not always depend on ornaments, makeup, accessories to slay not saying any of these things are bad but God should always be our priority. Have a lovely weekend fam.

Citizen of??

How do I become a citizen of Heaven?

I want to see the streets made of sliver and marble

How do I become a resident of Zion?

I want to see the great walls of Jerusalem

I’m searching for greener pastures

So I can leave this place where I am

But I’m stuck between the walls of sin,

trapped on the streets of mammoth,

enslaved in the dungeons of the earth.

Yet I want to meet the King of the Heavens,

I want to dwell in the presence of the President of the Universe,

I want to have one of the mansions promised to the citizens of Heaven,

I want to have the crowns of gold promised to the heirs of the Kingdom,

I want be a child of the King of Kings,

I want to be called out of every tribe, tongue&language,

I want to be a Royal priesthood, a beacon of hope,

I want to be a Child of Zion #daughter of Zion

Whose citizen do you want to be?

Happy Sunday FamπŸ’ be blessed as you read and ponder on whose citizen to which you be. Have a blessed week

Salvation Sessions

I was referred to a therapist

They said he was the best, and so?

I took my medical report to him

He said he could cure me

I didn’t believe him, its impossible I said

“With me all things are possible” he replied

I reminded him that I had a case of PTSD and sin disorder

“I can help you” he assured me

And so?

I surrendered, gave him my all

and in turn he gave me a therapy session called Salvation

introduced a teacher named The Holy Spirit

a psychotherapy called Prayer,

an antidepressants called The Bible

and a mood Stabilizer called Faith

I was set free from all sin and illness

and all this was given by Jesus

Happy weekend FamπŸ’πŸ’
